On April 22, 2017, SHS dedicated our Town Clock and two Historic Markers. This took place at the River Rock Academy due to the inclementweather. After welcoming the crowd, Joan Runkle introduced Mike Weaver, Past President, to offer a few words regarding the Clock. Mike had initiated the Clock Project before leaving the area. Lucy Getz, who was instrumental in the organizing of funds and purchasing the clock, also spoke. The Saint John’s Lutheran Church marker was described by Lucy Getz, who designed and wrote the text for the marker. Pastor Seifried commented on the church marker and was accompanied by a large group of parishoners. The Christian Stoner House was introduced by Joan Runkle, who wrote the text for the marker. Emma Burns drew the replica of the house as it would have appeared originally. Vincent and Sylvia Funk, present owners of the home, attended and Sylvia gave a description of the historic parts of the house they have retained and the changes they have made. We were entertained prior to and after the event by Barb Morgan playing the pump organ donated to SHS by Deb Formanowski. Refreshments were served during the social time afterwards.
Thank you to our major sponsors!
